Collaborative
Law is a new and exciting form of alternative dispute resolution for use in
divorce. Collaborative practice brings an option to provide a "Respectful
Divorce".
In the collaborative divorce process the parties and their lawyers sign an agreement that
they will not go to court. Armed with that knowledge you and your spouse have the best of both
worlds because not only is your lawyer actively involved, he or she is using their collaborative training to
consciously work towards an out of court settlement - the lawyers performance may be measured, if the process
fails then the lawyers have failed and they can no longer act for the parties.
Our partner Randal Binnie has completed specialist training in collaborative practice in
Melbourne and is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals and Queensland
Collaborative Law. Randal is one of the relatively few trained professionals in collaborative
practice in Queensland and has taken the opportunity to expand the alternative dispute resolution options
available to our clients. Randal is committed to the collaborative family law process and is actively
promoting Collaborative Family Law both to the public and legal professionals. Randal participated in one of
the first collaborative law matters in Queensland.
